The most crucial advice for making money on the internet

Google AdSense, Clickbank, Ad Banner marketing, Affiliate marketing, etc.

If you ever tried making money with one of the mentioned services you most likely had a lot of trouble with making a decent benefit.
The web is full of tutorials about how to tweak Google AdSense, so that people will click it and how to code and design a website to make it more profitable. But there is one main aspect most of the tutorials, ebooks, books, etc. do not tell you. In my opinion this is the most powerful and crucial advice you will ever get for making money on the internet:

Target an audience with a low internet affinity!

The less online affine your visitors are the higher the percentage is that they will click your ads.

You propably read about how to create niche sites to work your Google rank up and getting your visitors but some of you just don’t think about their target audience.
For example, if you build a site or blog about design, programming or something in that direction your target audicence will have a very high internet affinity. Now why is that bad for your marketing strategy? It’s simple. People with a high internet affinity do instantly spot ads on websites and will avoid them. I am not saying that you can’t make money off them but the basic marketing won’t work as effectively as it could on a different kind of user audience.

I am running a car tuning info site and my target group is about 16 to 30 years old and online affine. The site has an AdSense page-CTR of about 1.3% which is decent for this kind of site.

Just to find out how big of an influence the target group can be I made a site about holiday homes in Ticino and optimized it for Google AdSense as well. It is a simple site with a nice design and useful information for the visitors. The target group is about 30 to 50 years old.
Now guess what that site’s Google page-CTR is? Exactly, it is almost 4 times higher than from my tuning blog. It has a page-CTR of about 5.5%.
I could have tweaked it a lot more for an even higher CTR but I wanted it to be more user-friendly, so that the visitors will actually find what they are looking for.

So if you want to create a site purely to get money off it think about who your target audience will be. Make sure it is a niche site and your target audience does have a low internet affinity, which mostly means they are older than 30.

Rumor has it there are people who make a living out of it…

And if you want to make sure your site will have a top ranking in search engines read my post about How to get Your Site on Google’s first page and keep it there.

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

Just keep in mind that this advice goes for websites which are strictly build for revenue.

However, if you already have a blog or website AND you want to get some revenue off it try to work the middle and create additional quality content targeting the described audience.
